The Greater Lansing Area United Nations Association (GLUNA)  was founded to promote the principles of the United Nations and to foster world understanding and international education.
Greater Lansing Network Against War and Injustice is a membership organization seeking to end war and promote social justice through advocacy, education and nonviolent action.
Michigan Peace Team works to create a non-violent alternative to militarism and violence through empowered peacemaking.
MSU Peace and Justice Studies primary objective is to encourage students to think critically about violence, its causes, consequences, and alternatives both at home and abroad.
Pax Christy Michigan works to bring about peace locally, nationally and globally through prayer, study and action.  They are rooted in spirituality, dedicated to studying the issues of peace and justice from the vantage point of all those involved, and espouse working for peace with justice through nonviolent conflict resolution.
The Peace Education Center is a non-profit association in the greater Lansing area.  Activities are determined by member organizations, at-large members and by task forces which target specific issues that affect us all locally, nationally and/or globally.

The American Lung Association of Michigan (with a Capital region office located in Lansing) is currently involved  in promoting asthma awareness in Michigan as well as fighting lung disease.
Clean Water Action  is a national citizens' organization (with a Lansing office) working for clean, safe and affordable water, prevention of health-threatening pollution, creation of environmentatlly safe jobs and businesses, and empowerment of people to make democracy work.

Lansing Post-Petroleum Planning Project (LP4)   We can avoid SOME of the worst pain of the climate change we've unleashed by understanding global warming and "peak oil" and planning to relocalize economic activity by using the remaining easy oil to buy time to develop the habits, tools, and techniques to live well with much less energy, while cutting CO2 emissions.

The Michigan Environmental Council (MEC) is addressing the primary assaults on Michigan's environment,  promoting alternatives to urban blight and suburban sprawl, advocating for a sustainable environment and economy, protecting Michigan's water legacy,  promoting cleaner energy and working to diminish environmental impacts on children's health.
The Michigan League of Conservation Voters is the nonpartisan political action voice for Michigan’s environmental and conservation movement. We make environmental protection a priority with elected officials, candidates, and voters by mobilizing citizens as a political force for the environment.
The Michigan Nature Association (MNA), established in 1952, protects examples of Michigan's unique natural habitats and rare or endangered species. Programs focus on public conservation education and scientific study. The MNA now has 160 nature sanctuaries across the state for people to enjoy today and into the future.
Michigan Trails and Greenways Alliance
The Rails-to-Trails Conservancy regionalized in Fall 2005, forming a Midwest office in Ohio. The Lansing-based group remained here and reorganized as an independent statewide nonprofit. The same staff are doing the same type of work, much of it on the Greater Lansing Tri-County area!


Urban Options is a non-profit community agency which provides energy and environmental information and services and seeks to improve the environmental quality of our urban spaces with educational programs and demonstrations of practical and healthful home and yard improvements.  Urban Options operates Michigan's Energy and Environmental Demonstration House which features a variety of exhibits dealing with insulation, air leakage, composting, gardening and recycling.

EVE, INC – End Violent Encounters Formerly called the Council Against Domestic Assault (CADA), EVE, Inc. provides shelter and supportive services for the victims of domestic violence in our community, while seeking to end domestic violence through public awareness and community education.
Lansing Area United (LAU) is a chapter of Citizens for a United Michigan, the coalition opposing the anti-affirmative action measure (the so-called “Michigan Civil Rights" initiative) on the 2006 ballot.

Michigan Equality is a statewide organization dedicated to building and using political power to promote equality and eliminate discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.

Michigan Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice works to ensure reproductive choice through the moral power of religious communities. The Coalition seeks to be a representative of people of all faiths and to give a clear voice to the reproductive issues of people of color, those living in poverty, youth, and underserved populations. Eaton County Dems and Friends is dedicated to informing voters on public policy issues by offering events, infomation, public forums, speakers, publications and action.

The Ingham County Democratic Party, with an office in East Lansing, enables local democrats to stay connected with party events and issues as well as to help elect Democrats to office.

American Association of University Professors - MSU Chapter (AAUP)  The AAUP is a grass-roots membership organization devoted exclusively to the issues of higher education, emphasizing the importance of shared governance and tenure as bulwarks against the erosion of academic freedom.

Labor Council for Latin American Advancement - Greater Lansing Chapter LCLAA) is the official Latino constituency group of the AFL-CIO. LCLAA is the first national organization to represent the views of not only Latino trade unionists but all Latino workers seeking justice at the workplace.  LCLAA builds political empowerment for Latino families, supports economic and social justice for all workers and promotes greater cultural diversity at the workplace. The Michigan Education Association represents teachers, faculty and education support staff throughout the state.  They also advocate for quality public education. Local headquarters are in East Lansing.

The Michigan State AFL-CIO works to bring social and economic justice to our nation by enabling working people to have a voice on the job, in government, in a changing global economy and in their communities.

USAS  United Students Against Sweatshops is an international student movement of campuses and individual students fighting for sweatshop free labor conditions and workers' rights, starting with the working conditions in which clothing is made that bears the school's logo.

United Students for Fair Trade is a national network of student organizations which raises awareness and intensifies demand for Fair Trade alternatives, both on campus and in communities. USFT does leadership development through intensive international exchanges and skill-building conferences; and serves as a resource group for its student-based affiliates.

The Workers Rights Consortium is a non-profit organization created by college and university administrations, students and labor rights experts to assist in the enforcement of manufacturing Codes of Conduct adopted by colleges and universities for producing clothing and other goods bearing college and university names. There are more than 100 colleges and universities affiliated with the WRC.
Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT) offers an organized, nonviolent alternative to war and other forms of lethal inter‑group conflict. CPT provides organizational support to persons committed to faith‑based nonviolent alternatives in situations where lethal conflict is an immediate reality or is supported by public policy.

The Interfaith Alliance is a national, nonprofit alliance of religious groups which seeks to counter the extreme positions taken by the religious right, to promote democratic values, defend religious liberty, challenge hatred and religious bigotry and reinvigorate informed civic participation.
